SOLD 10 Plates From Rouard Paris France
10Plates From Rouard Paris FranceGeorges Rouard (1874-1929), of Paris and Limoges, designed these plates for sale in his elegant crystal and porcelain shop at 34 Rue de L'Opera in Paris, circa 1919-1925. They are done in the Sevres style of Louis XV. The field is the apple green color made popular by Madame de Pompadour, the official mistress of Louis XV and an investor and major influence in the Sevres Company. This Rouard designed set is hand-decorated with double gold incrustation, which is hand-polished with agate stone to make the raised gold pattern shine on the matte-gold background. The Pompadour green is the perfect contrast to the luxurious gold patterns. An added layer of opulence is the polished gold single incrustation design in the well of each plate.
